Service Description
This five-week course is designed for teens ages 15-18 who are headed toward adulthood and independence but need more guidance on the life skills necessary to be successful. This course is geared towards individuals who struggle in the areas of executive functioning, social skills, and communication. Requirements for Participation: - Reliable way of communicating and ability to engage in conversational speech - Ability to remain safely with the group - Independent in the areas of feeding themselves and using the bathroom. Throughout the course, participants will learn some of the written and unwritten rules of adulthood, such as: - Independent living skills (meal planning and prep, balanced eating, cleaning and personal hygiene) - Employment skills (interview skills, breakroom etiquette, workplace culture) - Time Management skills (using technology, creating routines and systems) - Woven throughout each week will be learning how to self-advocate and problem solve in various associated scenarios. Fun Fridays! Fridays will be a day for participants to practice leisure skills. As a group, they will determine an activity and the key details associated with it, such as cost, transportation, sensory requirements/accommodations, etc.
